  1. Fair enough.
    I apologize.
I should have also opened my reply with “You over-looked” instead of “you left out”.
    How about next year?
Hopefully, by then MLB will have retired the number “21” so no other ball player may wear it.
Plus, they will pay tribute on his special day like they do for Robinson.
(All players were “42” on his day, April 15)
I want you to know at age 80 I have gleaned so much information I had no knowledge of by reading this website. It is amazing. Thank you.

  2. Dear Sirs-You left out “Roberto Clemente Day” which is celebrated each year in Pittsburgh to honor probably Latin America’s greatest baseball player. Called “The Great One” by his contemporaries, his importance to the Latin American community is of the same as was Jackie Robinson for the Black baseball players. Today, the Pirates (playing the New York Yankees) will have the numerals “21” (Clemente’s number) highlighted in right field (his position for 17 years as a Pirate) for the game as they do each year. Clemente’s contribution to baseball and his humanitarian off-the-field efforts have resulted in the “The Roberto Clemente award” given to a MLB player each year. Also, there is a major effort to have MLB permanently retire the number “21” as they did “42” to honor Robinson. Thank you for reading. Christy Stone, Cincinnati, Ohio.
